It is not prerequisite for audio production but my goal was to clarify upon it's concepts, as you inquired. The facts and technology governing 64bit computing have been around in tangible form for over 40yrs. You have three people here telling you essentially the same thing. I'm not sure what you wish to achieve here but I cannot change the facts simply to cater to what it is you want to read. Why argue frivolously about something that you admit to not understanding? Come back, if you wish and let's have this conversation once you understand the subject matter and it will no longer "cloud the issue". If what I have typed is so "general" and you still fail to understand, there is always Google. Only then to go on to say that you don't even understand the topic. You then ask more questions which I addressed. You then go on to state that I was a part of a group who made specific implications, which I wasn't and had nothing to do with. You asked a very vague question, I covered the caveats regarding 64bit, et al. This statement doesn't make any sense in this context. Your 'facts' will only mislead people who don't know any better. You just wrote a bunch of general stuff that simply clouds the issue at hand. I actually did answer all of your questions. 64-Bit is really only beneficial for those that use heavy Virtual Instrument plugins that use a lot of RAM and CPU. Even if you use VST plugins for eq/compression/delay, etc, most don't use much resources at all. With that said for people just making chopped up sample based beats, 64-Bit is overkill. A lot of Pro Tools users complain about this every day and many rewire 64-Bit Reaper into Pro Tools and let Reaper handle the load of the instruments and just track/sequence in Pro Tools. But if you're producing a song with some heavy VST's/VI's, you can't just raise the buffer to prevent your shit from choking because it will cause unbearable latency. Or even at a low buffer, if it's 100 tracks of live tracking, a 32 bit app will do just fine.

If it's a 100 track project that's being mixed, you can just crank up the buffer and run the shit all day without a hiccup.
